Working as a makeup artist at Norwegian Fashion Week

So I promised everyone to make a blog about my trip and job in Oslo so here it is.

It started with I got a inbox message from Katrine Nicolaysen (head of PR and events at Scandic Vulkan Hotel in Oslo). Norwegian Fashion Show had a designercompetition called "Arven Etter Spook" that was gonna take place at the hotel. She had gotten a recommendation from Sølvi Strifeldt who I'm a big fan of, so I was such an amazing compliment and I was so flattered.
I was working with probably 30-40 designers, models, makeup artists, hair stylists, dancers, assistents, etc.

We first had to drive from Aalborg to Hirtshals (1½ hours) where we took the ferrie from Hirtshals to Larvik in Norway.

Took 4 hours. Then driving from Larvik to Oslo (2 hours). Took some time finding the hotels and when we finally did, we drove around to find a parking spot. Next morning turned out that it was a handicap space so we got a ticket. Hadn't noticed. :P

We went back to the hotel to get leave the luggage. We met up with Katrine at the bar and talked about the show and went through the outfits and moodboards.

I got a lovely goodie bag with some information, drinks and bracelets that I totally love!
(MOTEUKA is norwegian for fashion week)

Our hotel room was really nice. Katrine told me later on that the hotel had won some european award but I can't remember what it was for. But the best something in Europe. And you could tell. Not sure I've ever slept that good. See more pics and info here:

Scandic Vulkan

I totally loved this door across from ours. Some of the doors had some nice wall decor on them.

We went out to get something to eat. We wanted to find a restaurants or café but after walking for like an hour we finally found a pizza place. Well, why not. And I'm glad we gave up looking and went in there cause that was the best pizza I have EVER tasted. It was heaven.

While eating, alot of goths and punks went passed the pizza place and all went around the corner. So we decided there was probably a bar or club and we followed them to find it.. But got lost and found nothing. :( So with a little help from the navigation on our cells we got back to the hotel in one piece.
We went to sleep.

Next morning, we went down to the breakfast buffet. I ate so much because I didn't know when I was gonna get something else to eat and 'cause it was so good. And right as I thought, that was the last thing I got to eat that day.
After breakfast I got ready, cleaned some of the brushes I had used and packed up my things. We went out to get a cig outside the bar right before heading backstage.

It was so wild. So many people, so much energy, so much excitement.
We were sponsored by Oriflame which was my first working with this brand. They were really lovely but I used some of my own aswell as there were no primers and such.
The hair stylist was from Hair Lounge in Oslo and they were really talented. Some of those creative hair do's really took my breath away. Not to mention the makeup artists. They were so talented and inspiring. After the show, I got talking to some of them and they were so nice.
2 hours before they were gonna go on the catwalk, I was done with my job. Think I worked for 7 hours. Each makeup artist got a designer. Each designer had 2 models.

Luck would have it, one of my models were originally from Denmark. So someone could help translate every time we got a brieffing in norwegian.
While we waited for the rest to get ready we hung out backstage, talking and laughing.

Then 5 minutes to showtime, everyone was rushing, I needed to make sure that the girls' makeup was still flawless after eating and drinking. They got in line and we went down to see the show.
This was just the outside by the bar:

Unfortunatly I don't have any proper pics from the show yet and promised to blog as everyone has been asking to hear how it went. There was a lovely dance show which I don't have pictures of either while the jury voted for the winner.
After the show, we got a couple of beers and talked to the other makeup artists at the afterparty but went back up to the room quite early as we had to get up at 4 in the morning to drive to the ferrie again.
The trip home was horrific. Just too long, was too tired, too many annoying people. I just wanted the event to never end and hopefully it wont be the last time working on a runway show or with those lovely people.

Thank you for reading guys. <3
